Instructor Biography
Dana Tschirley
Dana is a highly accomplished military aviation professional with a diverse background in combat flight operations, training, and leadership. A journalism major from Colorado State University, she enlisted in the Colorado National Guard, where her exceptional work ethic and positive attitude earned her a commissioning opportunity and a pilot training position.
Dana flew combat missions in the KC-135 and later transitioned to the C-17, where she continued to serve in Iraq and Afghanistan. Her roles included airdrop pilot and C-17 instructor pilot, showcasing her expertise in tactical flying and training the next generation of pilots. In her final assignment, she served as the Director of Current Operations at McChord Field, responsible for managing the C-17 flying operations for four squadrons and overseeing the management of a $90 million dollar flying hour budget.
Dana retired from the Air Force Reserves in 2022 to dedicate herself to raising her five children. She is an accomplished athlete, Colorado state high school champion in cross country, and is an avid marathon and ultramarathon runner, mountain biker, and snowboarder. Her extensive aviation experience, leadership skills, and disciplined athletic background bring a strong foundation of perseverance and teamwork to her endeavors.
Dana is also the Chief Pilot and owner, along with her husband, of Prop Culture Aviation and Maintenance here in Olympia, Washington. Our mission is to operate a world-class aviation enterprise that delivers exceptional aircraft services, maintenance, and training while reinvesting in the future of aviation through education, access, and community programs.
