Automotive Service Technology
Program Description: Preparing students to engage in the specialized service and maintenance of all types of vehicles. Learn how to properly diagnose malfunctions, adjust, repair, and replace parts. Taught by an Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Master Technician in an Automotive Service Excellence Education Foundation (ASEEF) certified training facility, students are prepared to enter the workforce right out of high school while also preparing for advanced training and certification.
This is a one or two-year program. The rotating academic schedule teaches 4 of the 8 ASE certification areas each year: Automatic Transmission/Transaxle, Steering and Suspension, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning, and Engine Performance and Driveability for the 2022-2023 school year and Manual Transmission/Transaxle, Brakes, Electrical and Engine Mechanical for the 2023-2024 school year.
High School Equivalency Credits: Students earn 3.0 credits per year allocated as 1.0 Lab Science, 2.0 Career Technical Education/Elective. See how these credits satisfy graduation requirements in the Program of Study. These credits may fulfill up to 2 foreign language credits and 1 fine art credit for students not planning on attending a 4 year university.
College Credits: Credits available* through South Puget Sound Community College: up to 5 credits *Students who successfully complete the program and meet the college grading requirements will be eligible to apply.
